African Superstars of Wrestling Forum: A Place Where Like-Minds Come Together to Exchange Ideas

A group has been created to bring together all wrestling practitioners in the African continent to officially meet, exchange ideas, know more about how the sport operates in in their various nations and also to promote mutual understanding and serve as a network for the continental talents in Africa.

Wrestlers from Nigeria, Congo DR, Cameroon, South Africa, Liberia, Egypt, Benin Republic, Gambia, Ghana, Togo, Zimbabwe and Angola were so excited to be united through a particular platform and they never hide their feeling as there has not been a platform of such to raise their voice together before now.

According to Olusesan Olukoya who created the group platform, “It's an opportunity to share ideas, national wrestling traditions, and favorite wrestling experiences. It's also a good time to build cross-generational national relationships and pass on wrestling history since many talented pro wrestling talents have stories of national championships, immigration or struggles that are important to share with younger generations.”

For instance, Aliking of Nigeria never knew there is wrestling in Egypt until he saw a video clip from Ashraf Kabonga who wrestles for Egypt Federation and Arab Wrestling Federation (EWR) who also obtained two certificates from the Guinness World Records as one of the world’s strongest men.

Olusesan Olukoya was also excited about the huge number of fans in attendance at an event he saw in a photograph from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He also emphasized on the experience he had in Yaoundé, Cameroon in June 2023 when hometown fans led Buffalo to the wrestling arena during Buffalo’s duel against Mighty Man of Nigeria and the World Championship fight of The Golden Boy of USA and The Animal of Cameroon in July 2023 as well. He saw crazy fans and their thrilling styles of dancing and leading their talents into the arena he has not seen elsewhere.

There is still a lot to be learned from one another as we further discuss our strong national African teams including traveling to compete in other African nations, exchange of talents and other opportunities that should come together more easily than ever.
