Allied Independent Wrestling Federations continues worldwide expansion

Back in the early days of WrestleMap, we took a look at the history and global aspirations of the AIWF, an international governing body and territory system similar in style to the NWA’s heyday but on the indie wrestling level.

Since then, the AIWF has made some waves in their quest to expand their reach globally.

Back when we ran our original story on the AIWF, the group shared with us that a short term goal was to establish more partnerships in Africa. That seems to have come to fruition recently with the newly created AIWF Africa. AIWF Africa will be headed up by WrestleMap’s own Olusesan Olukoya and will be intermingled with the workings of Pro Wrestling Africa.

Back on July 21st, current AIWF Golden Age Champion, “The Golden Boy” Jim McDowell embarked on a trip to Cameroon on behalf of this new partnership and in the process became the first American pro wrestler to compete in the ring in the Central African Country. The Golden Boy faced off with “Animal” Alain Tazo in a bout to determine the first ever AIWF-Pro Wrestling Africa-Golden Wrestling Federation World Champion. The bout was won by Animal via countout, making him the first champion of Africa in this new AIWF partnership.

We will be sharing this match between Golden Boy and Animal either in its entirety, or in highlight pieces, coming soon so keep an eye out for that.

The AIWF’s recent international exploits aren’t confined to Africa, though, as the federation has also recently grown their partnerships in Asia as well.

Singapore Pro Wrestling has recently partnered up with the AIWF, becoming the 33rd country to be represented in the alliance. A source with the AIWF recently relayed to WrestleMap that the AIWF will soon be debuting an All-Asia Championship and plan to crown the first champion soon after the belt’s debut.

The AIWF also recently announced some news from a third continent. It appears as if a promotion in Australia will be returning to action and will be operating under the name AIWF Down Under. More details are said to be coming on that announcement, so be sure to give AIWF Wrestling a follow on Facebook.
