SETUP Thailand returns to the ring for the first time in 2021 with championship tournament and free online streaming

It’s been a long time since SETUP Pro Wrestling out of Thailand has been able to compete in the ring. The Covid-19 pandemic has kept the Thai company out of the ring for the entirety of this calendar year but that all changes this Saturday!

SETUP has announced that they will be holding a four wrestler tournament for the AWGC Junior Heavyweight Championship on Saturday starting at 8 PM Bangkok time. The tournament will be live streamed for free and accessible through SETUP’s Facebook page (link provided in photo caption above.)

The AWGC Junior Heavyweight Title is a championship belt that is being transferred to SETUP from the Hong Kong Pro Wrestling Federation. Initial attempts to crown the first Thai holder of the championship belt, including a match that would have seen the winner become the first ever double champion in Thai wrestling history by capturing the AWGC Junior Heavyweight Title and the SETUP Openweight Championship, were forced to be cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Saturday’s tournament will not have a live crowd present due to Covid restrictions and precautions still in place in Thailand. A pair of first round matches have been announced for the tournament so far. “Slave Leader” Paksa and Johnathan Johnson will square off in the first round, as will “Naughty Heart” Gunn Loso and the Bangkok Rockstar, Terry Diesel. The winners of the two bouts will meet in the championship final in the night’s main event to determine the new AWGC Junior Heavyweight Champion.

SETUP has made some additional announcements about the night that will help to make the event more entertaining for those tuning in to the live stream. The first announcement is that SETUP Openweight Champion Shivam will be joining ATK Gamer at the announce table for one night only. Shivam was originally in line to have a shot at becoming the first Thai AWGC Junior Heavyweight Championship in a four way dance that would have seen the Openweight Title on the line as well prior to event cancellations that took place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Surely, Shivam will be able to offer some great insight and some interesting opinions due to his own personal history with the championship title saga.

In addition to the wrestling scheduled for the night, SETUP has also lined up some additional entertainment in the form of idol girl groups! Both Sumomo and HatoBito are scheduled to perform during the stream. For fans of pro wrestling and the idol music genre, this free stream is one not to miss! Not only will there be a historic first champion crowned, there will also be some musical entertainment!
