Subarna Shrestha, General Secretary of the NRWA, relayed to WrestleMap that the mood at the press conference was very positive with a great deal of palpable excitement in the air. The wrestlers, local officials that were on hand, and fans in the area are all said to be very excited for Ring Wrestling to make its return to live audiences in Nepal and this unique outdoor event is taking that excitement level higher.

The press conference was held in Dolakha nearby the site of October 30th’s event. Officials from the Nepal Ring Wrestling Association and members of the press were on hand, but so were several Nepali dignitaries. Among those in attendance included Govinda Bhattarai (President of the Mountain Sports Federation), Ramesh Siwakoti (member of the Nepal Olympic Committee) and Dip Shankar (President of the Nepal Journalist Federation-Dolakha), all of which were presented as special guests. A local government representative of the local corporate house also spoke during the press conference, adding that this event should draw visitors to the Dolakha area. With the great crowd that was on hand during the NRWA’s last outdoor mountainside event, it is expected that this will be the case again. The local representative stressed that this event should help assist the tourism sector in Dolakha which has been suffering greatly since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chief Guest on hand for the press conference was Mr. Surya Lal Bhandari, member secretary of Province Sports Development Council, Bagmati Province. On the wrestling side of things, the only match that has been confirmed so far is a rematch between Chattan and Nuwakote Tiger. The two brawled all over the mountainside in their last encounter at NRWA’s Summer Slam event and put on a stellar match. It’s not hard to envision the same taking place this time around but in an even more picturesque environment.
