Italian Championship Wrestling to hold Italy’s first ever all women’s pro wrestling event

On October 2nd, pro wrestling history will be made in Italy as Italian Championship Wrestling will present La Numero 1 La Notte Delle Amazzoni, the first ever all-women’s wrestling event in Italy.

The event is set to feature an all-women’s tournament, which is also the first of its kind in ICW history. The winner of the tournament will be crowned La Numero 1 and will win what ICW is calling the hottest accessory of the year, the La Numero 1 tournament trophy!

As of now, the Italian company has confirmed several matches for the tournament and also, a special feature ICW Women’s Championship match.

Matches that have been announced for the first round of the tournament thus far include:

  • Queen Maya vs. Emily Ramirez: The longtime queen of the ICW women’s division, Queen Maya, who is a six time ICW Women’s Champion, will take on the dark and mysterious youngster, Emily Ramirez. Will Maya’s experience and championship pedigree be able to hold off the 20 year old up and comer who draws her power and skill from the dark side? Ramirez is a former holder of the WIVA women’s championship (Italy) so success is not a stranger to her.

  • Mary Cooper vs. Lara Wild: These two have a history. In the build up to the event, ICW has stressed that history but insinuated that past bad blood has been settled between the two due to mutual respect. However, with a chance at a big prize on the line and emotions high, that bad blood could easily return at any moment. This one will be interesting to keep an eye on. Will emotion be able to be held in check with strategy and sound wrestling coming to the forefront? Or will one competitor’s emotion become too much, getting in the way of pulling out a victory?

  • Kia vs. Alysea: This match marks a return to action after a ten year break from the ring for Kia, a former ICW Women’s Champion. The news of this all women’s event prompted that return and while there is surely drive and determination and a goal of proving oneself on this big stage, undoubtedly there will be some ring rust after ten years away. As for Alysea, a win over Kia could be the springboard she needs. Despite Kia’s absence from the ring for ten years, she is still very respected on the Italian wrestling scene. Taking down Kia, who is being hailed as a returning hero, could propel the young fan favorite Alysea to the status of contender in this tournament.

  • Jokey vs. Camilla: the battle of the face painted doll characters! Jokey has had success in the ICW women’s division in the past, reigning as a former ICW Women’s Champion. Camilla on the other hand doesn’t quite have the championship pedigree but is still entertaining to watch in the ring, incorporating dance into some matches, as well as sock puppets. There’s no doubt that this match will be entertaining.

Outside of the tournament, the aforementioned ICW Women’s Championship match is set to take place as Electra will be defending her title against Spain’s Maria De La Rosa. De La Rosa has had success in Spain’s White Wolf Wrestling, in Germany with German Wrestling Promotion and in Japan for promotions such as Marvelous and Sendai Girls. The reigning champion Electra, however, has held her title for over a year, beating both Queen Maya and Mary Cooper with the title on the line. Either way, this match will feature two of Europe’s brightest up and coming female stars and should be a good one!

Its great to see that the so-called “women’s revolution” that has been taking place in North American pro wrestling over the last five or so years has extended into Europe and the Italian pro wrestling scene. Here’s to hoping that this is only the start of these all-female events taking place in Italy.

If you’re in the Bergamo area, or will be this weekend, be sure to secure your tickets to attend this historic event! Ticket reservations are available through email at info@icwwrestling.it or through telephone and WhatsApp at 335 1208244. For those that can’t attend in person, no word has been released as of yet from ICW regarding availability of video.

Good luck to all of the women competing on Saturday!
