Osun State to host NPWF pro wrestling event in December 2023

Set to immortalize former world light heavy weight champion Mike Bamidele

The President of the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation (NPWF), Chief John Uche, has addressed Nigerian pro wrestlers to get prepared and that plans are in top gear to host a world pro wrestling championship in Oshogbo, Osun for two major reason. To celebrate and honor the late former world light heavy weight champion Mike Bamidele and also to commemorate the 42nd year anniversary of the Nigerian Pro Wrestling Federation which technically was in September this year.

He thanked the wrestlers for their consistency and doggedness over the years despite the numerous challenges besetting the growth of professional wrestling in Nigeria and emphasized the steps taking place to normalize the pending challenges.

In a letter sent to the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, seeking his approval to host the championship scheduled to take place on Saturday 9th December at the Oshogbo Township Stadium, Osogbo, he implored the governor on the hosting.

“Nigerian Professional Wrestling Federation is appealing to your Excellency to approve and be our Chief Host on the international Wrestling championship/42nd Year Anniversary celebration/Mike Bamidele National Security, Peace and Unity Wrestling Championship Trophy created to immortalize a great wrestler of appreciable repute from Ipetu-Ijesa in Ori Ade Local Government area of Osun State while the trophy would be presented to amiable governor for blessing,” Chief Uche explained.

According to President Uche, ‘’the championship will be used to showcase talents such as Mightyman, the NPWF heavyweight champion and title holder, Mr. Sharpman, Aliking the current holder of the peace trophy, while the national ladies title fight will be between Stylish ‘’J’’ of Anambra and Triple ‘’J’’ of Jos, Plateau State. The event will feature three title fights and four supporting bouts which will be explosive with scintillating pro wrestling display,’’ he concluded.
