Wrestlefest DXB of Dubai set to sanction the first ever women’s main event in the Middle East

Big news coming out of the unique wrestling and arts event that has taken the Al Quoz region of Dubai by storm. Wrestlefest DXB has announced that the main event of their upcoming Equal Measures event scheduled for October 15th at Warehouse 4 will be a women’s match featuring Charlie Morgan and Alex Windsor of the UK meeting in a singles match. A monumental announcement indeed due to the fact that this will be the first ever women’s wrestling match in Dubai and also the first ever women’s wrestling match to main event a pro wrestling card in the Middle East!

The pro wrestling industry as a whole is a relatively new phenomenon in the Middle East but that can be said even more so for women’s wrestling. Due to cultural and religious differences surrounding gender roles in society, female wrestlers are few and far between in the Middle East and the small handful of matches in the region have been on the undercard. That all changes on October 15th when Charlie Morgan and Alex Windsor will shatter that glass ceiling in the regional pro wrestling industry.

Both ladies come into the match with a wealth of experience. Charlie Morgan boasts eleven years of experience in the ring and previous reigns as champion as the EVE Champion with Pro Wrestling: EVE and the DOA UK Women’s Championship. She has been based in the UK throughout her career but has also competed in the United States and throughout Europe extensively.

Alex Windsor is a thirteen year pro, initially making her in ring debut at just 15 years old. Currently, she is a force to be reckoned with on the international women’s scene and holds several important titles including the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling International Princess Championship and is the inaugural Queen of the Carnival Champion with the UK’s Wrestle Carnival.

The news of the big main event is starting to make the rounds in the international pro wrestling press as Charlie Morgan and Alex Windsor are both set to appear on Cultaholic’s podcast this Sunday along with the Dubai World Wrestling Champion, Shaheen.

We’ve covered several of the past Wrestlefest DXB events here on WrestleMap and will certainly be keeping up with the developments of Equal Measures, especially the historic main event. Also announced for Equal Measures, which is being sponsored by C&S Active, are a Dubai World Wrestling Championship match where Shaheen will defend his title against Thomas Ramsey, battles for the golden medallions that will determine the next wrestler to receive a title shot at the Dubai championship and the continuation of Dubai’s first ever tag team tournament!
