‘’It’s great to be the champion’’ – Alexandra De Queen

I dedicate the success to my role model, Sasha Banks

Lion hearted, young, skilful and talented 23 year old ALEXANDRA DE QUEEN (whose real name is Jennifer Obiora and hails from Idemiri South Local Government Area of Anambra state in Nigeria) lived up to her words during the Mock Pro Wrestling Championship in Lagos, Nigeria of 20th March, 2021 by defeating the bigger, muscular and more experienced Iron Lady Becky. Alexandra has raised her voice to say that it feels great to win a fight, whether it’s a title fight or just an exhibition competition.

Alexandra was trained by ‘’Homeboy’’ Elephando Bassey, the slender 70 year old Grand Wizard of African pro-wrestling who still competes fairly and who happened to be the first National professional wrestling coach and former national middleweight champion. Bassey began his career as a coach in 1979 and Alexanda has received enough masterful training from Elephando in the world of pro wrestling gimmicks, styles and acrobatic tactics that it has made her hard to defeat. Elephando has produced wrestlers who are impossible to beat when you meet them in the squared circle and that is the rank Alexandra belongs to.

According to Alexandra, ‘’It feels great to be a champion whether a title is attached or not. I am happy to be the women’s champion of the Mock Pro Wrestling Championship, held in Lagos, Nigeria on the 20th March, 2021. Happy because I made my debut that day as a wrestler and also happier because I was able to win. Yea, it feels great to be a champion. Indeed and in truth, champions are made and not born as champions. No pain, no gain. I trained and over trained for the event and it eventually paid off.” Alexandra hails from Anambra State, the same state Michael Okpala, or “Power Mike”, a household name in the world of Nigerian wrestling, hailed from. Power Mike was a retired, undefeated World Heavyweight wrestling champion born in Neni, Anambra State who died at the age of 64.

Future plans of Alexandra are to compete internationally among the toughest in the world of women’s wrestling and she is preparing and making waves towards actualizing her purpose in life since a journey of a thousand miles normally starts with a step.
