The Golden Boy Jimmy McDowell shares excitement about the launch of pro wrestling in Togo

I'm glad pro wrestling has been inaugurated in my motherland in Togo - Golden Boy

The Golden Boy, who has descendants from Benin/Togo and his real name as James McDowell, has expressed himself that he is full of appreciation that professional wrestling, an industry he holds in high esteem is now finally rooted in his motherland in Togo.

Golden Boy is a talented and seasoned actor, producer, director, professional wrestler of over three decades and a dentist of appreciable repute in Florida in particular where he has his base. Jim is a man of many parts. A film Actor, Producer and Dentist by day and Pro Wrestler at Night! Some of his associates call him “Jim of all trade and master of all” based on his exploits and I can affirm that the saying is the truth.

On his coming to Togo in the first quarter of next year for the much talked about training of West African athletes in professional wrestling, he feels that it has to do with volunteering. ‘’Volunteering is a voluntary act of an individual or group freely giving time and labour, often for community service. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as sports, medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster and so on. I have decided to run a free one on one with training for West African upcoming athletes and nothing can change that. It is always good to give back to the society that has made us what we are,’’ explained the Golden Boy.

“I am not holding this project in Lome, Togo because I hailed from Togo/Benin republic but for humanity. Such a catch them young program will still hold in other regions of the world with time as we all need to give hands of fellowship to others to bring them up in life and not to pull them down,” explained Dr. Jim.

After leaving Togo in the coming year, he will be in Nigeria as well to talk to in-school and out-of-school youths on living a meaningful life through professional wrestling during the proposed Governor of Lagos in Nigeria project tagged: SANWO-OLU WRESTLING MENTORSHIP PROGRAM of February 2024. He says: "Giving back to society means contributing to the well-being and improvement of the community where we hailed from or in which one lives mostly supporting the upcoming talents. This can take many forms, such as volunteering, philanthropy or working to address social issues through activism or advocacy and even through sports promotion," as he is embarking on now by coming to Lagos in February 2024.

Jim’s pro wrestling career has spanned over thirty years. He manages as a qualified dentist and also competes favorably as a professional wrestling talent. Jim McDowell, the current AIWF Golden Age Heavyweight Champion and titleholder in USA has been privileged to compete over time with world well rated and talented reputable superstars like Buff Bagwell, The Barbarian, The Warlord (both of The Powers of Pain tag team), Super Crazy, The Nature Boy Paul Lee, Chic Donovan, Pablo Marquez, Mo, Twin Towers and “L’Animal” Alan Tazo of Cameroon in Africa.
