The inaugural title holder is a wrestler that fans from around the world are very familiar with, the legendary Mick Foley.

Foley has wrestled and held championships all over the world but this is the first title Foley has held that is sanctioned by a wrestling promotion based in the country of Thailand.

Currently, the Covid-19 situation in Thailand has halted the pro wrestling industry for the time being. SETUP shared in their announcement regarding Mick Foley that it may be quite some time before live pro wrestling can continue in the country. Part of the decision to name Foley the 24/7 Champion comes as a way to keep Thai pro wrestling active and fresh in people’s minds during the forced downtime that SETUP is experiencing at home. Another aspect of the decision to name Foley the first champion comes as a nod to his part in unveiling the WWE’s 24/7 Title back on the May 20, 2019 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.

Foley also appeared in a video for SETUP announcing himself as the first 24/7 Champion, which you can watch above. Foley still actively makes appearances for independent wrestling promotions around the United States, and if he will be carrying the SETUP 24/7 title at these appearances, and possibly even making 24/7 title defenses at them, it could be great international exposure for the Thai company.

It should be fun to watch Mick Foley’s run as SETUP 24/7 Champion and his involvement with pro wrestling in Thailand going forward!
